For Immediate Release April 21, 2008 Michael Driskell Takes Home the Late Model Win at the Motorplex NASHVILLE, TN – The cloudy skies parted ways for the second week in a row to allow for more great racing at the Music City Motorplex. After a brief delay for rain, qualifying was cancelled, the track was dried and the racing got underway right on schedule. Michael Driskell and Skip McCord brought the NASCAR Late Models to the green flag for a fifty lap shoot-out. Driskell jumped out front with McCord, Dillon Oliver, Michael House and Mark Day close behind him. Driskell pulled out to a two second lead over the field, but on twenty-one McCord and Andy Johnson got together entering turn one, bringing out the first caution of the race. Once the race got back underway, Driskell continued his dominance, again pulling out to a two second lead over Oliver, Bo Miller, Day and Mark Montgomery. The only other caution fell on lap thirty-six when Montgomery and TW Fisher got together exiting turn four. Both cars received heavy damage, but the drivers luckily walked away. Driskell held off the field, collecting his first victory of the 50th anniversary season followed by Oliver, Miller, Day and House. Bobby Buttrey led the way at the start of the NASCAR Super Truck one-hundred lap feature. An early caution for an accident involving Kyle Fletcher and Jess Williams brought the field right back to Buttrey’s rear bumper. Larry Ryman charged into the top spot on lap fourteen followed by Daniel Victory, Buttrey, Daniel Bolden and Ricky Bolden. The entire field ran nose to tail for forty laps before John Earhart’s spin off of turn two brought out another caution. A caution period on lap ninety for debris once again brought the field back together and resulted in a green, white checkered finish. Ryman held on to take the checkers, but during the post race inspection, Ryman was disqualified, giving the win to Tommy Climer. Ricky Bolden finished second, Victory third, Roy Binkley fourth and Buttrey rounded out the top five. Wayne White took the lead at the drop of the green flag for the NASCAR Grand Nationals followed by Lee Goddard, Jeffery Belt, Eddie Taylor and Tim Haggard. By lap fifteen, White led the way by nearly three seconds leaving Goddard, Belt, Taylor and Michael Crow battling for second on back. White took the checkereds for the second week in a row followed by Goddard, Belt, Taylor and Crow. Jeremy Newman jumped out to an early lead in the Thunderstox division, but Ricky Groves stayed right on his rear bumped followed by Cory Jones, Matt Barnes and Dale Travis. Newman took the win followed by Groves, Travis, Danny Wilkerson and Barnes. Rob Sanders and Kenny Summers made it two in a row in the Legends Pro/Master division. Sanders led from flag to flag to pick up the win for the Pro’s followed by James Fowlkes, Kevin Rollins, Josh Berry and Tyler Slayden. Kenny Summers picked up the win in the Master’s division. Brandon Summers took over the lead on lap two from Giles Martin and never looked back in the Legend Semi Pro’s. Summers grabbed the victory followed by Martin, Cody Fernett, Tim Mangrum and Travis Adcox. Timothy Lunn and Ricky McIllwain put on a show during the Dwarf Car feature. Lunn led the way until lap ten when Lunn and McIllwain split a lap car, going three wide into turn one. McIllwain gained the advantage exiting the turn on held on to take the win. Lunn finished second followed by Allen Ring, David Ring and Rick Webster.
